The Roanoke Higher Education Center in Roanoke, Virginia offers more than 200 programs of study through dozens of member institutions, such as Radford University, Old Dominion University, and Virginia Tech to name a few. Anyone who has been around Huntington knows—Marshall is special to the community. It holds a treasured place in our hearts, for more than just the reason than it’s a college city. Our community is united by a lot but remembered around this time of year is the events of November 14, 1970. A tragic day that struck the campus, the city and our community, with so many dear lives lost. We may have accepted the tragedy of the event and have, in many ways, come to peace with the pain. Our Marshall family continues to be strengthened by the lasting memory.

As Expected, COVID-19 has drastically changed the Home Improvement Market sector. However, you will probably be surprised to learn the trends aren’t heading in the direction we are all accustomed to in these difficult times. Retail sales figures compiled in July of this year by “Consumer Specialists” show a June 2020 growth of 6.6 percent for all retail compared to 22.6 percent for store types most associated with home improvement (building material, supplies dealers, etc.).
